A person who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two children aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was arrested after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.

However, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She said his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.

The man conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.

The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

The legal counsel stated items including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his family member contacted the authorities about his concerns.

She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

Mrs Prior said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the police again.

She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five children.
